Candy Bar Slider

by Karen Hanson | 8 years ago

When I had my two little girls, I was already an avid crafter.  But having them introduced me to a whole new happy world of scrapbooking and memory keeping – a part of paper crafting that is still near and dear to my heart.  Interestingly enough, by the time they were 3 and 4, I was also introduced to another small niche in paper crafting – treat containers!  I realized how much I loved leaving them little treats, and wrapping them up in fun papers and shapes just seemed to make sense to me!

So today, I wanted to share with you one of my most favourite treat containers – the chocolate bar slider (or candy bar slider as I am told my America friends call them)!

Now, these sliders are not just cute covers for the bar!  Simply pull up gently on the ribbon (without untying), and the chocolate bar slides right out while still staying securely attached to the cover you create with the paper!

It’s like a little bit of paper crafting magic!

These little sliders are as cute as can be, especially when you are using a fun and eclectic stack like Birds and Butterflies (available at Jo-Ann). This is such a pretty stack and with so many different patterned papers to work with in a rainbow of colours, layering them up to add interest is a breeze!

Within the stack, there are also a great assortment of graphic images that are really easy to cut out with scissors and then adhere with a foam square for a little embellishment pop! The flower took less than two minutes to cut out, and it looks like you have a custom made sticker to use on your project!

Now, while this particular slider has a feminine feel, with Father’s Day right around the corner, this is a great project to add a little something to a treat that you might be giving to a special man in your life!  These are just so much fun that I might just have to put one together and post it up on Instagram later this week!  Because really, the only thing better than chocolate is chocolate covered in pretty paper!

Thanks for stopping by!
