Different themes, same stack

Hi everyone! This is Social Media Design Team Member Karen H. and today I wanted to share a project using a stack that is a bit out of my comfort zone but oh, so pretty!
When I am crafting, I often find myself gravitating towards bright and bold colours. But when I first caught site of the new Minty Lace stack available at AC Moore, I knew that I needed to create some layouts with these pretty papers. Subtle colours and pretty patterns abound in this stack, and it seemed like a perfect fit for scraping pictures of my little gals.
For both of these layouts, I chose a light pink 12x12 sheet in different patterns. I loved the subtle pops of darker grey/brown, and used that to emphasize a few areas on the layout.
The little tag featured here became the starting point for a message I wanted to write on this layout – that these two little gals really are my happiness.
For both layouts, I wanted to experiment a little bit to see how I could create a focal point on the right side of the layout – choosing vertical lettering for one, and buttons and sequins for the other. I like that both make the layouts seem anchored without using a bold contrast in the papers to really hold things in place visually.
I have to admit that working in softer colours really does take me out of my comfort zone, but I sure am glad that I went this route for these pictures! Not only did I really enjoy the challenge, but I think that it also emphasizes the moments and stories captured in the pictures. And that makes me smile!
Thanks for stopping by!
