Going back to the basics

by Karen Hanson | 7 years ago

Hi everyone, it’s Social media Design team member Karen H. and I am here today to share a project that brought me back to a time when I first started crafting!

It seems like it was so long ago, but when I first started crafting, coloured cardstock created the foundation for my paper stash.  In fact, it was more than the foundation – it was really almost all that I had.  I used to painstakingly organize it by colour and tone, and it always took me a while to find just the right combinations of colours that would work for a project.

So, when I decided to take on some layered pieces for my daughter’s room recently, I realized that I was going to have to spend a good amount of time pulling out and matching colours again…that was until I came across one of my DCWV double sided stacks called Flipside (available at Jo-Ann).  Not only is this stack so versatile because you have a whole second set of colours on the reverse side of each sheet of paper, the colours are also all in the same tints and shades so the blue coordinates with the pink which coordinates with the teal.  It is matching colours at its finest and DCWV has done all the work.

So you can spend your time layering and gluing instead of matching colours – but that is whole different story!

Challenge yourself to work in just coloured cardstock and see what you can come up with.  It won’t replace a great patterned project, but it will easily expand your crafty repertoire again!

Thanks for stopping by!
