Home Décor with the Premium Paper Collection

by Jaclyn R | 9 years ago

Hello DCWV friends and fans, it’s Jaclyn from the DCWV Social Media Team joining you on the blog today.  Have you been keeping up with all the gorgeous projects the design team girls have been sharing using DCWV’s Premium Paper Packs, available exclusively at Jo-Ann?  If so, you know that these paper packs are extremely versatile.  In fact, I’m here to share with you another way to use them.  I’ve put together a quick and simple framed home décor piece using this beautiful premium pack:

I knew the moment I saw this stunning collection of papers, that the pretty palette and textural finishes would make for a beautiful framed art piece on my bedroom wall.  Here’s a closer look at all of the beautiful finishes and variety you get in one of these paper packs—laser cutting, burlap, foil, printed vellum and subtle shimmer cardstock.

When I originally set out to begin this project, my initial intention was to simply frame up four of these pieces and hang them in a modified grid on my wall.  I had executed this same idea with some patterned papers several years prior, so I already had the frames and arrangement in tact.  Many years have passed however, since I created that orginal wall hanging and we’ve since changed out our bedding.  It just so happens that our new linens perfectly coordinate with this premium pack.  Once I got started framing out the pieces, I knew that I couldn’t hide all that beautiful texture and finish behind the glass in the frames.  So, I brought out my diecut machine and went to work cutting a slew of butterflies to layer on the outside of my framed pieces.  Here’s a look at where this project started and how it transformed with the aide of some diecutting, creativity and the pages from the premium paper pack.

As the diecut butterflies ‘float’ through each of the four framed pieces, your eye is drawn to the details and textures of each paper.

The gold dotted vellum that was included in the pack made for a scattering of light and lovely butterflies.

The laser cut quatrefoil design looks gorgeous layered over top of the shimmering cardstock.  I knew right away that this would be my focal frame, and created an extra dimensional butterfly to adorn this frame and draw more focus to it.

And one final look at the finished wall hanging…

This project was quick and easy, since DCWV did the hard work to coordinate all of the patterns and finishes for me.  If you haven’t tried out the premium packs, I hope all the projects we’ve been sharing this week will convince you to give them a go!
