Love bright colors? Karen has got the layout for you!

Hi everyone.  It’s Social Media Design team member Karen and I am sharing a new layout today with one of my favourite, bright and colourful stacks – Birds and Butterflies (available at Jo-Ann).  There are so many beautiful DCWV stacks out right now, but this is one that I keep coming back to over and over again.  In fact, I think I am down to about 10 sheets left in my stack. 

The purple sparklie one I used as the base for this layout was one that I have been waiting to use.  I am not sure why, but I have very few purples in my paper collection…I mean, paper “supplies”.  This one happens to be a beautiful blue-purple with some diamond sparkle dots and stipes.  I loved it so much that I wanted to use it as a full piece – I just couldn’t cut it up.  

So, I kept this layout fairly simple, layering some teal papers on top of some pink to coordinate with the photo.  I also fussy cut one of the flowers from the stack and attached it with some foam adhesive for a bit of dimension. Since there was a bit of black on one edge of the flower, I decided journal and add some faux stitching in black pen to pull those elements together.  

Last, but not least, I added a little banner title and then used three red brads to tie together the red in that element together with the red in the flower.  In the end, I love the combinations of colours on this layout.  It makes me smile as much as the picture does!
