Luminary in a project stack? Bring it!

by Lisa Lahiff | 8 years ago

Hello!  It is Lisa Lahiff here from the DCWV Social Media Design Team, and I have a fun project that is sure to light up your creativity, and get you busy crafting!  I've used the new DIY Luminaries Stack that is now available at Michaels Stores.  I said it in my last post, but I have to say it again I love the way these new DIY stacks literally take so much of the work out of their projects, having everything easy to punch out and scored for you.  So let's dive into today's project and photos...

Let's start with the basics... below I have a photo of how your project will look when you first tear the pages out of the stack and start popping out the cutouts...

You will need two of the bottom two pages and only one cut out for the top luminary.  I also suggest using a pin or a paper piercing tool (this is an inexpensive tool that can serve lots of great purposes in your craft room).  Once you have them all punched out, you will want to score along the score lines and add double-sided adhesive tape along the one edge of each part; you then adhere the two pages together, or in the case of the top one, just adhere it to itself as shown.

Here is what you will end up with.  Now you will notice I have added twine to keep the top of the smaller luminary together, but don't worry...photos are provided in the back of the stack to show you how this is done. Here are some ways you could dress your luminaries up:

I opted to use the smallest luminary as a treat holder, and I love it!  Although these would be super cute for wedding favors, and/or with flowers as a center piece for an event.

I couldn't let you go without seeing one photo of the luminary in action; please excuse the darkness of the photo but I just love how it looks all lit up at night...

Thank you so much for stopping by today! We cannot wait to see what you will make with your new DIY stacks! We love to see them on any of our social media sites!

Happy Crafting!

Lisa
