Mini Album Love
by Karen Jiles | 9 years ago
Hi there,
Karen here, sharing an accordion mini album I created with the New “Happy Day” Stack and the 16 x 20 Cardstock Neutrals Premium Stack. Both products are a part of the latest DCWV product release available at Jo-Ann Craft and Fabrics. The Happy Day stack was just one of the beautiful new stacks that were recently released. The 16 x 20 Premium stacks come in several color collections and offers many options from small to large scale projects. I chose to scale my project down, but I also wanted to take advantage of the 20 inch length. The length is perfect for accordion type albums. I decided to combine the 16 x 20 papers with the “Happy Day” stack to create a Wedding themed accordion album. Take a peek at my tutorial below.
Supplies
DCWV Stack: Happy Day, Neutrals 16 x 20 Cardstock Premium Stack.
Chip Board (2): 5 x 6
Bow
Pins
Ring
Sentiment (Happy Die Cut)
Bone Folder
Trimmer
Xyron Adhesive: The New Creative Station, Mega Runner
Hot Glue
Instructions
Step 1: Fold desired 16"x20" paper in half and score it to form an 8"x20" piece of cardstock.
Note: The length of the premium stack cardstock makes this accordion effect so effortless.
Step 2: Score cardstock at 5” intervals on the 20” side. Note: Scoring at 5” intervals provides 4 panels on each side of the album.
Step 3: Fold cardstock along scored lines creating mountains and valleys. Define the folds with a bone folder. Note: This step creates the accordion base for the album.
Step 4: Keep album folded (5"x8") and trim the accordion album down to 5"x 6".
Note: Trim the scored side- creating 2 accordion albums. Set 1 accordion aside for future use.
Step 5: Trim 4 pieces of coordinated patterned paper down to 5"x6" for the front and back covers. Run through the New Creative Station to apply adhesive.
Step 6: Adhere patterned paper to the front and back covers as well as the inside covers.
Step 7: Trim ½ an inch off of the 1st and last page of the accordion album. Note: After trimming the accordion album it should be 4 ½ x 6.
Step 8: Using Mega Runner, apply adhesive to the 1st page of the accordion base. Adhere the 1st page of the accordion base to the back of the front cover. Repeat step for the last page of the album and the back cover.
Note: The album is created and the next steps will focus on design.
Step 9: Run the front cover paper layers through the New Creative Station and adhere layered strip to left side of front cover.
Step 10: Cut out focal image from the “Happy Day” stack and adhere to cover.
Note: There are many fun focal image options in the stack to choose from.
Step 11: Continue building the front cover with a bow, die cut, pins and ring embellishment.
Step 12: Run patterned papers through the New Creative Station and adhere them to the pages throughout the accordion album.
Note: You can add photos to either or both sides of the album.
Step 13: Continue embellishing as desired.
