Mothers Day means flowers!

Hi blog readers, it's Jaclyn joining you on the blog today!
I'm sure a lot of you are like me, in the fact that you might associate Mother's Day with everything soft, pretty and floral! Knowing that, it will come as no surprise that I reached for the new Garden Charm stack to create some pretty Mother's Day cards for two special Moms in my life.
The first card uses papers strictly from this stack.
I used the kraft embossed mini dot paper for my background. I then cut out one of the label elements and attached it vertically on my card front, creating dimension with foam adhesive. By stamping my sentiment in the center of the label, I created a focal point for my card design. The label was preprinted with one small lavender flower, but I since Mother's Day makes me think of "all of the flowers," I wanted to add more! I fussy cut some additional lavender flowers from other papers in the stack and tucked them on and around my label. A pretty tie of white ribbon and some sequins from my stash provide the extra finishing touches for this card.
For my second card, I again started with the Garden Charm Stack, but the base of my card design was pulled from the In Stitches stack.
I knew I wanted to fussy cut more florals of my favorite papers in the stack. This time I kept to a red and green color scheme, layering some of the smaller flowers atop of the bigger ones using dimensional adhesive.
I intended to use the In Stitches paper just as it looked when I pulled it from the stack....
Isn't it pretty? I love the intricate stitching and design that I could never master on my own without investing a whole lot of time and effort. As I went to place this pretty background on my card, however, I spotted the watercolors from the Paint and Create card kits close by. I immediately knew that the watercolors would create a fun effect atop the white stitching. Mixing the paints allowed for me to customize my colors to perfectly match the flowers that I had fussy cut and created a cohesive look throughout my design.
Once again, sequins from my stash and a stamped sentiment round out the design.
I hope my Mom and Mother-in-law will feel the love that I put into these cards while making them. I had each one of them in mind while creating, and personalized them according to their personal style and favorite colors. It's the least I could do to honor these amazing women in my life!
