Naptime Mixed Media Canvas Video

Hello DCWV fans! I don’t know about you, but sometimes naptime is the only creative time I get on any given day. I have tried getting crafty with my little one by my side, but she ends up sneaking away with one of my Gelatos and applying it like lipstick to her entire face, or some kind of mischief like that. So, naptime is precious craft time, and I took advantage of it recently to create a mixed media canvas.

I was able to complete this project – from gesso to final coat of ModPodge – in one naptime. My secret? Eliminating some of the wet texture mediums I typically use. Instead, I used DCWV papers to create beautiful and interesting texture without drying time between layers.

You can see my process in this video. If you want to play along, grab a canvas panel, your favorite pack of DCWV Premium Papers from JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores, and your favorite paints and mists. Once your kiddo is off to mid-day dreamland, have fun!
