Stateside Deer and map
by Yolie Burke | 9 years ago
Hello this is Yolie from the Social Media Design Team here today to share with you my home decor featuring the NEW Stateside Collection, available soon at your local Jo-Ann.
For my first project, I used one of the U. S. posters to alter the deer from the DIY Wall Zoo collection.
I placed the parts on the map, traced and cut. Not all of the components fit on the the map so I set aside the sides of the head, antlers and the backboard to paint. I applied the map cutouts to each part with Mod Podge.
I applied 2 coats of black chalk paint. Directions indicate to allow 2 hours in between coats, but the paint dried pretty fast overall. Since I won't be writing on the chalkboard surface, I applied the second coat after 15 minutes.
While the paint dried, I removed the flower patterns from the Stateside DIY Project Stack and made 4 small flowers and 1 large flower (adhering them together with hot glue).
My second project is a set of canvas panels. I painted the edges of 2-12"x12" canvas panels.
I covered the panels with black burlap from the 12"x12" Premium Burlap Stack. I layered pattern paper on top of the burlap, used the California state chipboard and added an enamel geo tag.
And here you have it, my deer in bloom with 2 coordinating altered panels. I am so loving the quote, "The shortest way to anywhere is to have good company". That quote is everything!
This wall is the entry way to the family room & kitchen and it was due for a makeover.
I'm so loving the Stateside Collection! Please visit us again tomorrow for another project idea.
Thank you for visiting.
