Stinkin' Cute!

by Karen Hanson | 8 years ago

Hi everyone!  It’s Social media Design Team member Karen H.  and today I am going to help get you in the mood for Halloween!

DCWV has a great new stack out right now called Halloween Night.  I decided to use it to capture one of my favourite Halloween nights about 6 years ago.  One of my daughters was just over a year old, and I found a really cute skunk costume for her to wear.  Up here in Calgary, Halloween can often coincide with the first snow of the season, so warm costumes are a must.  Not only was she going to be stinkin’ cute, but she was also going to be stinkin’ warm!

For this layout, I wanted to pick up on the pumpkin that was in the background on one of the pictures, so I chose a bright orange polka dot patterned paper for the background.  From there, I just had fun layering different sizes of rectangular papers, all slightly bigger than my largest photo.

I think found some cute elements in the stack that were perfect for fussy cutting – a set of stacked pumpkins…

…and a fun version of the date.  Each was large enough to make the cutting really easy with a good set of scissors.  I simply adhered them with foam squares for a bit of dimension and to make them pop from the background paper.  With a button, some adhesive rhinestones, and a bit of doodling and journaling with a thick black pen, I was all done!

There are all sorts of fun patterns in this stack –I can’t wait to use it for a variety of Halloween-themed projects (I see treat bags and an altered witched hat in my future). And while I would argue that my daughter is stinkin’ cute in these pictures, this stack definitely helps put the cute in spook!

What will you make with this stack?

Thanks for stopping by!
