We *heart* Chameleon pens!!

by Jeri Vann | 8 years ago

Hello crafties!! Jeri here from the DCWV Design Team with a fun and colorful card idea for you!

Have you tried Chameleon Pens yet? Do you love them?

I fell in love with these pens a long time ago, but just could not get myself to make the purchase. However, once I got my hands on them, it was instant love! I am still learning with them—I am not quite an artist or a hand-letter master, so they are taking me some time to get used to. But, starting with the basics, anyone can look like a pro!

Ready to make this colorful Chameleon Card with me? Grab your markers and the DCWV Color & Create Patterns & Prints Stack. Find the sheet with hexagon shapes and color a few of them with colors you like. Practice the beginner ‘back & forth’ coloring technique.  Once that is done, let’s take it up knotch and try our hand with some feathers. I colored both small and large feathers with the same colored pens.

Once you have those finished, cut them out and set them aside.

Grab this light grey DCWV sheet from the Double Sided Cardstock Stack. I cut mine about 8x5 finished size.

Next, grab this darling sheet from the DCWV Embossed Shimmer Stack. I used some Tim Holtz Distress Ink and rubbed on top, lightly, to make the flowers more visible and give the paper a little more dimension.

Set this aside and go back to your card base. Place the hexagons on the left side area, visibly how you prefer. It’s ok if they hang off the card, you can cut the edges off.

Once you have them how you like, secure them down  and cut the excess off.

Next, measure the right side of the card area that you will place the Embossed Sheet over. Cut the sheet out and secure it to the card.

With a scrap strip of the cardstock, cut a strip to mask the seam of the embossed sheet on the left side. I used the darker grey side of the cardstock. Secure that down, and then decorate the front of the card with the small feathers you had colored. I added a metal framed stamped vellum Thank You to the top. Feel free to decorate how you wish.

I added the larger feathers to the inside of the card.

How did it go for you?
